The National Institute of Indutrial Property (Brazil) has been appointed as International Searching authority (ISA), and International Preliminary Examining authority (IPEA) under the PCT. The office will begin functioning as an ISA and an IPEA with effect form August the 7th 2009.
With the Agreement between the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property
and the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization
the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property becomesa an International Searching Authority
and an International Preliminary Examining Authority under the Patent Cooperation Treaty
(as in force from August 7, 2009)
