The Madrid Protocol for international registration of trademarks will enter into force in New Zealand from 10th December 2012. From that date on, New Zealand can be designated in any new International Registration and existent international registrations can be extended to that country.
At the moment, individual fees have not yet been fixed; New Zealand made the following Declarations according to the Madrid Protocol :
– it is requested a Declaration of Intent to use the trademark; and
– recordal of licenses in the international register at Wipo has no effect (it is necessary to act directly before the Nationl Office)
