New Copyright Law in Montenegro

The new Law on Copyright and Related Rights entered into force on August 6, 2011. This new regulation has the main aim to strenghten the old Serbia and Montenegro’s copyright law dating back to 2004 and to focus more on the artist’s rights. The new provisions deal more deeply with the collective management of rights and introduce a control by the State of the copyright collectives.

Furthermore, the new Law is compliant with international conventions and with the EU’s directives on the subject matter.
